WOODLICE

What are woodlice?

Woodlice are small, crustacean-like creatures that are commonly found in damp and dark environments, such as beneath rocks and logs, in soil, and in dark corners of homes and buildings. They have a segmented, oval-shaped body and multiple pairs of legs that they use to move quickly and easily over surfaces. Woodlice feed on decaying organic matter and fungi.

Do I have a woodlice infestation?

You will usually know if you have a problem with woodlice on your property and it will usually be through live or dead sightings of adult woodlice however, there are other signs to help you identify a woodlice infestation

1. Presence of woodlice: If you spot one or more woodlice in your home, it can be a sign of a potential infestation.

2. Shed exoskeletons: Woodlice shed their exoskeletons as they grow. You may notice small, empty exoskeletons around your home.

3. Damage to plants: Woodlice can also feed on plants and cause damage to leaves, stems, and fruit.

4. Damp areas: Woodlice are attracted to damp and humid areas, so if you notice an area of your home with high moisture levels, you may need to check for woodlice.

5. Foul smell: Large infestations of woodlice can produce a foul smell, similar to that of rotting vegetation.
